      ENTRY FEE IS $2.00 PER TEAM / PAYABLE  DAY OF CONTEST AT SIGN IN

 ALL MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE FESTIVAL THE DAY OF CONTEST

• Two sheets of standard copy paper (required) One Sheet per Airplane
• One or two standard paper clip (optional)
• Three inches of tape (optional) and three staples (optional)

West Virginia State Championship of Paper Airplane Flight Contest Rules

• Each competitor builds two paper airplanes using only the materials listed above.   
• The paper airplane should be designed to fly as far as possible.
• The Pilots will be judged for "distance", each Pilot throws his or her paper airplane while the Judge records distances in feet and inches. All distances must be measured from the starting line to the point where the plane first touches the ground -- not to the final resting place.
• Each Pilot can throw each of their planes twice.                                                    (Four Throws Total)
• When all results are in, determine three winners per category.           (Champion,Runner-up and Third Place)
• Pilots will have 5 minutes to build and modify each plane before the contest.               (Total of 10 minutes building time) 
• No help can be given in the Middle School, High School Classes
• One or Two Pilot Teams can enter the Grade School Class with the Student Piloting (throwing) the plane during the contest.
• The Open Class can also use two Pilot Teams and is open to all ages.
• Championship will take place October 5, 2013 at the Grassy Knoll Runway at New River Park, Beckley, West Virginia. Registration between 9 and 11AM. Championships start at 11AM. 
• All decisions of the Judges are final.
